The Ground Is Wet, Yet It's Raining Food

Shamed by my lack of discipline (all those desserts for the last few days), I decided to dine at the Thai restaurant....up the street.....raw fish and sushi......A film production crew was lined up at the 'bar', ordering sushi and sashimi......(on an expense account).....The young 'producer' who was sitting next to me kept ordering food items as she texted and cruised the internet on her phone, while her companions downed their food...in a rush to get to wherever they were heading out to, later......Abruptly, they bolted, paid their tab and left the restaurant.......Oddly...to me anyway.....the woman ate not a bite of her largess of 'luncheon specials', and, as the waiter was about to clear her 'place', I asked "are you going to eat all this untouched food?'.....He replied, "No, I'll toss it in the trash!".....I hate waste......(here comes the rationalization)......So, I asked if I could have her dishes......He replied, 'Yes, sure!" as he handed me all that food.......Now, I feel like a croc that has just gobbled up a full-grown antelope.......Later, I'll be 'victim' to that old adage....'the more you eat, the more you want'.......Maybe I should give this chocolate cake to my neighbor lady....the old diabetic with the 'false' sweet teeth......Oh, I forgot....she kicked the bucket recently.....(more rationalization)....I guess I'll just HAVE to eat it all myself! Why, on Earth, did I make that other cake? Yes....I'd been hypnotized by the chocoholic sugar fairy that dwells at the top of my brain stem........You know,...the green fairy's sister..........

Watching/Listening to The Voice.......I was wondering.......'would Puddles be in the Finale? Too 'real' for POP?

Evolution of 'Sports' involvement.......

I'm not immune to emulating the activities and interests of Pop Icons........... Having a folding table tennis table installed in my parents 'recreation' room was a source of great social prestige in the early 1960's.........(yeah, sure!).......as was the foray into badminton, after watching "befuddled bungler, Bellamy B. Birdbrain" in an instructional film at the Lyric theater in the early 1950's..... or watching Paul Newman, hustling pool in The Hustler...leading to my getting a collapsable pool stick, in a lizard skin carrying case. My foray into 'computer/arcade games' ended with brief quarter-dropping into Centipede and Ms. Pacman, however........Too 'Virtual' for my tastes, I think......and some time wasted stoking blood pressure with Super Mario Bros...... Pick-up Sticks, anyone? Guess I'm a 'small court' guy....and the Bridge Table is just about perfect, if shuffling and dealing is enough exercise...........After all that practice, I never got to play with Frank, and my old ping-pong balls now serve another purpose, floating in the coffee-maker to indicate the water level......my old badminton was relegated to 'carpenter bee swatter' status. "Marbles", anyone?

Thoughts about the Upcoming Academy Awards Ceremony

I've figured out the 'hosting' issue-dilemma's solution for the upcoming Academy Awards' dog and pony show........How about Bradley Cooper and Emily Blunt as co-hosts? And, since...purportedly....the 'presenters' are professional 'actors'...or business 'tradesmen'....maybe their repartee prompters and cue-cards should bite the dust, also.......And, up the hemlines of those ballgowns to avoid embarrassing trips and falls over them.....and, lengthen the men's pants just to keep the image of Bugs Bunny's 'feet' in designer shoes out of my mind.......And, on the Red Carpet.....how about no 'Who are you wearing?' questioning, and countless 'nods' to commercial advertising plugs.....Buy your own costumes and jewelry, actors.....you get paid enough, don't you?......Alas, I believe, however, the Ceremony will be dumbed down even more than ever before, reflecting the current mindsets of its Viewers...what's left of them, anyway.....Hmmm...how about Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as co-hosts.....with the concession of cue-cards for the elderly....put on your glasses, ladies...'fashion your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy night'.......and...file the 'Awards' under the category, "politics".........or 'fashion'.....there's not a category for 'politically fashionable', after all.....I'll suggest a 'new' category, perhaps......"Film most likely to be as meaningful, intelligent, stylish and beautifully acted as it's perceived to be right now"......Hmmm.....Which nominated film would that be!
