Once more, today...30 May....is NATIONAL CREATIVITY DAY.... .....few even vary the side of the bed they sleep on, or what they'll have for b'fast..stuck in their habitual routines....It's easy to develop habituations to which even the slightest change-ups produce anxiety......'Changing It Up' is how we progress, rather than dwell in Stasis....To challenge my curmudgeondom, I'm sleeping in 'another' bed tonight' eating foods that I've never had before, today; listening to unfamiliar music; wearing clothes that I've not worn in decades; driving the 'other' car....(that would take some 'jumping off', for sure)...but, there's an old bicycle, rusting in the garage.... to spark creativity and provoke my brain to think a bit differently......even if but for a day.....or, are we all just primates, addicted to the sameness of lazy conformity? Have an eggroll, Mr. Monkey.......there's plenty of bananas for tomorrow......

Well, not 'free'....but cheaper and cheaper with mass adoption of the newest technologies to 'couch potato' the entire World......

The Endless Enigma........for 15 years or so, the only significant technological advance was from b/w to 'color'....then screens got squarer and larger than 21".......25" screens ruled for a while.....then the inundation of 'improvements'.......surround sound and HDTV........I've had more TV's in the past ten years than in my entire lifetime, before them........I've hit a 'wall', so to speak, now.......curved, 4K OLED units with wireless streaming, built-in surveillance cameras and ever-listening microphones......and, of course, more confabulations to keep 'service providers' in your wallet! I'm 'behind' the Orwellian demands, although there IS an interest, due to being perpetually bombarded with Media Propaganda and the promised ability to watch just about everything ever filmed.....an appeal, certainly......At my age, however, the tech involvement, that I would have 'gotten into' in my 20's or 30's, is both more challenging, annoyingly complex, expensive and time-consuming.......Watching birds and furry critters, bugs and bats, flowers growing and the wind in the trees is being displaced by watching phone screens and 110" UHD TVs......which are bolstering the sale of big, adjustable, heated and cooled mattresses upon which to wile away Life in pursuit of passive media obsession and 'being entertained'......And, to think....in 1961, 'stereos' with swing-out speakers and drop-down turntable and a battery-powered FM radio were my only concern....and....wall switch light dimmers, naturally......I'm frustrated enough by my OLYMPUS DSLR, which is more complicated to operate than assembling a Maserati from 'parts bags'.........
